So, I think maybe an update post is in order.
First of all, I got a new poster! It was free from the open university and it is pretty big! I really need to sit down and look at it but there is just so much on it!
It's still available so go and order one!
Second of all, my new math teacher arrived! She seems lovely and isn't too strict with us so that's nice. She knows what she is doing which makes all of my worries seem quite unnecessary now. Well I suppose most of my worries are! Our first lesson included a maths joke (math construction - classic) and a math trick (she stuck a number above the board and when we asked what it was for, she proceeded to get us to call out random numbers and they added up to the number!). I knew then that we would be ok.
Third of all is a new series I will begin shortly. It is called 'the end?' and will work like a competition between geography and physics in their bid to end the world first/best. So... We'll see how that goes?! I think Brian would enjoy it.
Fourth of all, I have wrote this on a piece of paper in the middle of the night 'Is there anti matter? I could go at the speed of light if I had a spaceship that weighed the opposite of me'. It turns out that anti matter isn't a thing yet but who knows what will be possible once we learn about the higgs field? Or am I being crazy? It seems crazy but that just makes it even cooler! I think anti matter would be repelled by the gravitational pull of the earth though so I could get to really high speeds easily. Construction and landing might be a but tricky though... Maybe it could be switched off?
Last of all, I did a physics mock last week but I'm really not holding high hopes. It's all getting a bit worrying! And then the other day I had a strange thought. I was doing some geography revision and I suddenly had the realisation - Physics should really be my priority.... And then I thought, ' Why haven't I thought of this before?!' And then I thought about how much I had to do and how much time was left so my chest tightened and I hyperventilated a little.
Sometimes I forget that just because I write the title at the end, you don't read it that way...
Welcome to my blog where I write about Vaguely Phyisics Related Matter, I hope you enjoy it :)

Wednesdays are fun
Today really was the weirdest day...
At lunch there was a talent show which was pretty average for most of the time. You know the usually trio of sings, a girl and her guitar and the GCSE dance class, then a teachers dance with a male teacher dressed as a woman failing about the place. But then the last act... Well it was hilarious, genius and just a tiny bit horrifying! 5 of the male teachers dressed as once direction lip syncing 'what makes you beautiful' including a dimmed light serenade to our head teacher... Cringing at the memory here!
And then straight after lunch was my last lesson with my favourite maths teacher, which was quite sad. I'm sure the new teacher will be good but this teacher was brilliant and I will definitely miss her.
Then we had physics after school which ended in hysterical laughter and an unintentional capacitor joke at 4 o'clock which is super early!
Gosh, I'm going to miss school!
P.s. I honestly was going to be productive tonight but since I can't find my USB and so will now have to start my geography essay all over again I kind of lost my motivation...

Secret Santa!!
Secret Santa this year was the best!
I have to admit that when giving my physics present I experienced a microsecond of reluctance to give the Brian mask away. However within one second of her opening the present I totally knew it was a brilliant idea! Thankfully everybody found it very funny and the mask was then worn almost all day! I honestly never stopped seeing Brian around the place!
It turned out that my teacher was my Secret Santa! She bought me this really cool steady hand game where you can change the shape of the wire. I'm shockingly bad at this but I am getting better! Clearly in this case the wire has been bent to look like a Christmas tree, clearly...
And then in a non related physics Secret Santa my friend bought me this t-shirt! She's pretty amazing right?? I know its rude but its too funny not to wear, I even wore it to my grandmas house! Its true, even if I didn't take off my jumper at all...

This would have been a picture of Brian wearing the t-shirt except I gave the mask away... Never mind, Finn is always a pretty model!

Teacher Tales
After half a week last week school is back into full swing and I feel super busy most of the time but in a good way I think!
In chemistry we have started a topic which involves an awful lot of biology. I am the only one in my class that didn't do AS biology and my teacher finds it necessary to mention this fact every 2 seconds in class! I can't really complain as she is doing a wonderful job of explaining things to me really carefully so I understand it all but nevertheless I was standing by the lockers moaning about it to my friend and was mortified to discover my teacher had walked right behind me! Luckily she finds enjoyment in my discomfort and embarrassment so has continued to make jokes about it just to see how red my face can go! I promise to never talk about anyone ever again...
I had my new physics teacher again today! After telling us that particle physicists make everything up just to keep themselves in a job (something I found considerably more funny than my friend who loves particle physics!) he said that 'education is just the dimishment of deception' and I really love this definition. It is especially relevent since last year I felt as though, what with wave particle duality and so on, that what we were learning really was changing how I saw the world.

New Teacher
Today was my first lesson with my new physics teacher (well new to me, not new to the school) and he seems lovely! He has beard which initially was quite distracting, mostly because of this guy I watch on youtube, but I soon got over it! I really really really dislike double lessons normally but this one seemed to fly by! We did quite a bit of work and I honestly understood everything so I think this will be a good year. Half way through the double we had a room change to another classroom and when he got excited about having a roller board in that room I knew we were going to get on this year! I have to admit that there were some silent 'awwww's when his back was turned! I think he's one of those teachers who can weave interesting anecdotes into the subject matter in an interesting, fun way and I can't wait to hear what he has to say next lesson!
Today was also my first physics lesson without my friend and it was quite emotionally traumatic... I'm gonna have to check my own work for silly mistakes and to see if I rememberred the units myself now!!

Water Rocket
Today was the last Physics lesson ever with one of my teachers so we had a treat! We got to set off a water rocket which was really great! We had a bottle half filled with water and a foot pump which we (I say we but of course I didn't do any of the hard work!) until the pressure built up high enough for the bottle to go shooting up!
At first the lid was screwed on too tightly and the rocket shot off at an angle... Then it was tied on too tightly and wouldn't shoot off at all... And then we had the most perfect brilliant one just as we were about to give up! it went straight up in the air and I felt about 6 years old (in a good way)! So I'm counting this as a success experiment!

Book Injuries
I was looking back at my posts recently and I saw that they are all so self centered! I decided that I would get back on track and write about something with real Physic substance. And that's the reason I didn't post for a few days... Because writing about myself is easy, I know about myself! Although I realise I need to stretch myself and improve the standard of my blog I will make one more self centered post and then I will try not to bore you anymore!
So today in my Physics lesson my teacher started handing out some books for summer reading and my friends were handed interesting looking books (including Brains second book). However I was stupid enough to mention that I might want to go to Oxford so I was lent this:
Its massive and has 548 pages!! How on Earth am I going to read this?! And I was planning on starting the Harry Potter books (I know, I know its terrible I haven't read it yet...) but that's never going to happen now! I know my teacher means well and this book will be good for me but its so big and heavy that when I dropped it on my foot it hurt SO much!! I'll have to be very careful when I actually start reading it...

Day Four
I feel quite sad knowing that today is day four and I only have one day left! I really have had a brilliant time, I don't want it to end..
Today I went to the academy after mentally preparing myself for my data not to have come back. I was a little disappointed but I had convinced myself that I was fine with it. Then I spoke to a few people and they all told me that everyones' data had run! They had all worked! I was extremely excited and was desperate to get started. I ran to my computer and although they are very fast, the computer seemed to take years to set up! I can barely even describe the crushing disappointment I felt when I found all of my jobs folder void of any output. I checked the queue and sure enough, there are my jobs - waiting in the run column... Our undergraduate ambassador seems to think I might have set up some kind of loop but I'm still in the stage of denial and am still praying my results will come through by tomorrow morning - I won't get my hopes up too high though!
None of the zeolites came back with a negative thermal expansion though (the volume increased with temperature) so maybe mine is contracting and that is why it is taking so long? Possibly? And if that is the case - my data will be the most interesting and brilliant! Fingers crossed?
So now I have to prepare for the presentation tomorrow and we are going to talk without notes which completely terrifies me!
This morning we did a workshop on presentation skills which I was convinced would be a waste of time but it was actually pretty useful! We had a quick go at a presentation but only had half an hour to prepare and were supposed to teach the rest of the group something. At first we struggled to come up with an idea and then I remembered about the origami jumping frogs! We had the best idea by far and I did the demonstration without anything going very wrong so I'm actually feeling quietly confident about public speaking at this precise moment.
However tomorrow the presentation will be in front of strangers (I don't count the group as strangers anymore!) so it will be a bit different! And of course I don't know as much about Physics as I do about origami frogs... Oh and to make it even scarier - I think my teacher is coming! She hasn't told us but I heard from my friends that she has booked the afternoon off!
Today was good, I just hope tomorrow goes well - eek!

The Day Today
So today is the day I started my UCAS application! I feel like this will be a momentous occasion although I know I will forget all of this once I eventually go to University. Even though I am sure I will grow to hate this website, it was pretty exciting to start! Going to university is beginning to feel more and more real, this is actually going to happen! Somehow...
Today is also the day my Physics teacher accidentally pocket-dialled me - awkward!!
And today is also the day my Mum went to Madam Tussuad's with her school on a trip and took pictures of the Physics people for me!
Unfortunately there wasn't one of Brian...
Wow, for a remarkably average day a lot happened!

You will not believe this!
As further proof of the excitment of my life something awesome happened today!
So we were in class and my physics teacher asked how many pencils I had. I think he was showing me that I needed at least three and was expecting me to not have enough. I was expecting not to have enough. However I began to count. He began to wish he had asked someone else. I proceeded to count out 12 traditional and mechanical pencils. The class was stunned into silence.
Then, when forced to guess how many pencils were in my pencil case 2 put of 3 victims (who werent in my ohysics class) guessed correctly first time!?
But wait - that isn't even the coolest part! On my radio they were just told me that today is actually pencil day :0 today is pencil day! today, the day when I had a major pencil incident!! Actually maybe this is one of those things that seems cooler in my head...
